Asset Management Investment Strategies
Research, quantitative analysis and technology govern our multi-pronged strategy to investing across the world’s major markets. Citadel’s investment strategies include equities, global fixed income & macro, energy, and credit.
Global Equities Associate Track
The Global Equities Associate Track is a career path for developing Citadel’s next generation of Global Equities analysts. Over a period of two to four years, Associates learn the fundamentals of equity investing, trading, portfolio construction, and risk management while employing their market-modeling, valuation and interpersonal skills. Global Equities Associate roles are available in Chicago and occasionally in our offices in London, New York and San Francisco.
Operations, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Human Capital
Citadel’s speed and decisiveness are the products of collaboration across our operation. The Operations teams serve as the backbone of the organization, providing critical support and oversight that are integral to the firm’s success.
Citadel Execution Services (CES)
In less than a decade, Citadel Execution Services (CES) has become a leading equity market maker and options smart router for retail broker-dealers1, executing approximately 7 percent of U.S. listed equity option volume and 4 percent of U.S. equity volume.

We are a strategic investor in U.S. and pan-European exchanges. In the U.S., we are an equity market maker in approximately 7,700 NASDAQ, NYSE, NYSE Arca, and NYSE Alternext securities.  In addition, we route orders in nearly every U.S.-listed equity and index options to all nine U.S. options exchanges.

Investment & Trading Associates
Investment and Trading Associates learn how to manage risk and identify opportunities to deploy capital. Knowledge of investments and financial markets is preferred, with a degree in finance, economics, applied mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, or computer science. Previous undergraduate internship experience at a financial services institution is also desirable.
Financial Technology Associates
Financial Technology Associates learn how to build and manage systems that further our competitive advantage. Candidates must demonstrate a thorough understanding of and experience with software development, object-oriented design techniques and methodology, and be pursuing a degree in either engineering or computer science.
Institutional Markets Associates
Institutional Markets offers new graduates exposure to a diversified platform by working with market-leading technology alongside industry-leading professionals in multiple product lines. Candidates must have the ability to conduct quick computation and analysis as required by changing market conditions, be conversant with new technologies, possess critical-thinking skills, and have the ability to make decisions thoughtfully and quickly.
Quantitative Researchers
Citadel hires Ph.D.-level graduates, ABDs, and junior faculty to help conceptualize valuation strategies, develop and improve upon mathematical models, and translate algorithms into code. Graduate-level training in economics, engineering, finance, mathematics, physics, statistics or a related field is required. Strong coding abilities, mathematical and statistical modeling skills, and financial intuition, are all important attributes in generating research that can lead to trading decisions.
Summer Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program welcomes students determined to play a major role in the world of finance. The Citadel Internship positions exceptional students for a successful career with one of the most entrepreneurial financial institutions in the world. Internship projects are tied directly to current business needs and are customized to each intern.
