Kenneth Griffin

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Kenneth Griffin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citadel. A diverse financial institution, the Citadel franchise includes both Citadel Asset Management and Citadel Securities, one of the leading liquidity providers in America’s capital markets.

Mr. Griffin graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. He is an active supporter of educational causes that drive community improvement, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Public Education Fund.

Within the business community, Mr. Griffin is a member of numerous organizations including the World Economic Forum, G100 and the Economic Club of Chicago.

Mr. Griffin actively supports Chicago’s civic and cultural institutions. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for both the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Gerald Beeson

Chief Operating Officer

Gerald Beeson is Chief Operating Officer of Citadel. He is responsible for key corporate functions, including Treasury, Finance, Human Capital Development, Global Distribution, and Corporate Communications. Mr. Beeson is also a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. Prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2008, Mr. Beeson served as Citadel’s Chief Financial Officer, a role he held since 2003. He joined Citadel in 1993 and was among the company’s first employees.

Mr. Beeson currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Managed Funds Association and is a member of the Financial Markets Working Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He also served a five year term on the Board of Directors for The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. He was named to Crain’s Chicago Business Forty Under Forty in 2007. Mr. Beeson is actively involved with education through the Big Shoulders Fund, as a member of the Directory at Marist High School
(Chicago), and as a Trustee at DePaul University.

Mr. Beeson received his MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. He is also registered as a certified public accountant in the State of Illinois.

Adam Cooper

Chief Legal Officer

Adam Cooper is Chief Legal Officer of Citadel. He is responsible for overseeing Citadel’s global Legal, Compliance, Transaction Management and Regulatory Affairs functions. Mr. Cooper is a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee.

Prior to joining Citadel in 1999, he was a Partner with the Chicago law firm of Katten Muchin & Zavis (now known as Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP). During Mr. Cooper’s 12 years with that firm, he represented domestic and international banks, brokerage firms and money managers and specialized in a range of capital markets issues.

Mr. Cooper is a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and participates on the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, an independent, bipartisan policy task force. He is also a member of the Financial Markets Working Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Mr. Cooper previously served two terms as Chairman of the Managed Funds Association, the hedge fund industry’s trade association. He has testified before the Senate Banking and the Senate Agriculture Committees, the House of Lords, the European Central Banking Supervision Committee, and is a frequent speaker on industry matters. Mr. Cooper also serves on the Northwestern University School of Law Board and the Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation Board.

Mr. Cooper received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and received a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Alex Lurye

Head of Global Portfolio Construction and Risk

Alex Lurye is Head of Global Portfolio Construction and Risk at Citadel. The Portfolio Construction Group is an independent function engaged in Citadel’s risk measurement, monitoring and management both within and across the firm's businesses. Mr. Lurye chairs Citadel’s Portfolio Committee and advises in determining risk tolerance levels for the strategies, businesses, and the funds as a whole.

Prior to joining Citadel in 2001, Mr. Lurye established and headed Global FX Structured Products group at Credit Lyonnais. He began his career in the FX Derivatives Trading and quantitative research areas at Lehman Brothers and Warburg Dillon Read.

Mr. Lurye holds a bachelor’s degree from Polytechnic University and an MBA from New York University.

Tom Miglis

Chief Information Officer

As Chief Information Officer, Tom Miglis heads the technology that is fundamental to the success of the Citadel platform. He leads a team of approximately 500 technology professionals to develop new trading and technology applications that accelerate innovation on behalf of Citadel’s business and clients. Mr. Miglis is also a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee.

Mr. Miglis has more than 20 years of experience in senior positions within the financial services industry. He was an Executive Managing Director and Partner and the head of Global Systems for Bankers Trust Company. He served as CIO at Salomon Brothers, leading their widely recognized global technology organization. He also started two successful software firms prior to joining Citadel in 2001. Mr. Miglis has been recognized by Wall Street & Technology magazine as one of the Top CIOs on Wall Street and one of The CIO Elite for his role in making Citadel a technology leader in the industry.

Mr. Miglis graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College.

Darcy Zulpo

Head of Human Capital Management and Development

Darcy Zulpo is Head of Human Capital Management and Development. She leads global human resource activities including talent acquisition and leadership development across the Citadel platform.

Ms. Zulpo joined Citadel in 2003 as Vice President of Information Technology, Recruiting and Human Resources. She served in this role until 2006 when she was named Director of Global Recruiting. In this position, Ms. Zulpo oversaw all key recruiting functions including Asset management, Capital Markets, Back Office and Information Technology. Before joining Citadel, she founded and operated her own human resources and recruiting consultancy.

Ms. Zulpo holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola University.
